  • King Cole Comfort Yarn

Looking for an incredibly soft chunky or DK yarn?

Today I want to talk to you about a new discovery, King Cole Comfort Yarn. As the chilly weather is here and winter is creeping round the corner, I've just finished my first chunky crochet project using King Cole Comfort Chunky and I'm loving it.  It's soooo incredibly soft, and smooth to use and when its comes to colours I'm spoiled for choice. I'm using a mix of 6mm and 8mm Clover Waves crochet hooks and can't wait to start making a cozy chunky beanie and scarf, would a pair of boot cuffs be going too far I wonder?  Might write a quick blog on those.

    Value for Money

The 100g balls give you 310 meters or 340 yards in DK and 106 meters or 116 yards in chunky meaning these balls of yarn go a long way.  Comfort yarn is 60% acrylic and 40% nylon making it machine washable at 40 and easy care, bonus when you are knitting or crocheting for babies!

Don't just take my word for it, customer feedback shows that they feel its soft, easy to work, gives great stitch definition, available in a fantastic selection of yarn colours and great value for money.

Oh and one last thing, it's not itchy around the neck and face !

  • Fill Your Home With The Warming Fragrance Of Christmas.

Nothing is better than walking into any home during the festive season to the warming fragrance of Christmas.

Whenever I think of Christmas as a child I always think of my grandparents home.  My grandma was big on home baking for the festive season and her home was always filled with the aroma of Christmas.  As an adult I fill my home with the warming fragrance of Christmas by using a blend of reed diffuser for the undertones and adding scented candles at night to add the top notes creating some mouth watering fragrances.

So here's my guide to filling your home with the warming fragrance of Christmas.

    Reed Diffuser and Refills

You too can create your perfect home fragrance by using reed diffusers.  If you have a diffuser bottle then just change your fragrance by using refills (don't forget to replace your reeds when you change your fragrance).

Wax Lyrical Christmas Cookies diffuser refillThe aroma of cinnamon is a must during the festive season, but, if you find this too overwhelming then try a blended fragrance.  Wax Lyrical Christmas Cookies, is a rich biscuity, spicy fragrance with zingy citrus top notes leading to a heart of roasted cinnamon and with 250ml in the bottle it will fill the average reed diffuser twice.

Want to try something little more fruity ?  Mince Pies from the Made in England range gives the aroma of spiced warm cinnamon and sweet orange with hints of clove bud and red cherry. Or keep it traditional with Vanilla and Cranberry this will fill the room with creamy vanilla combined with frosted cranberries and juicy red berries.

If like me you want to fill your home with the single fragrance of cinnamon then the sizzling cinnamon scented candle by Jelly belly or toasted cinnamon diffuser oil by Wax Lyrical is the one for you.

    Scented Candle

    caramel roasted almonds scented candle

Using an scented candle in the evening can make your home feel warm and cozy giving your room that holiday glow.

Indulge your self with caramel and roasted almonds, not to eat, to smell, if this blog had 'smell-o-vision' your mouth would be watering right now.  Rich delectable caramel drizzled with the aroma of almond.  This large scented candle by Sebnini was Made in the UK and will burn for around 35hrs.  Mix this with cherry or orange based candle if you want to add a fruity top note.

A similar candle is the mince pie and brandy by Sebnini.  This candle is more on the fruity side than spicy or musky, with irresistibly fruity notes, spiced almond and pastry heart, on an tempting base of brandy and warm vanilla.  If it's the sweet spicy side for you then try a gingerbread candle, it smells so good, with a mixture of cinnamon, french vanilla, and fresh baked sugar cookies.

Before I go I have to mention that one of our fastest selling fragrance both as a candle and diffuser oil is Mediterranean Orange.  This smells like oranges, fresh tangy oranges.  I like to add some cinnamon or mulled wine to this just to spice it up a little.

I hope you feel inspired your to mix your fragrances to fill your home with the warming fragrance of Christmas to create your perfect winter wonderland.
